David Silver's Comment: The Facts Behind the Current Violence Between Israel & Hamas

On Wednesday afternoon, a missile fired from an Israeli Air Force jet made a direct hit on a car in Gaza City. The occupants of the car where all killed. One of the occupants was Achmad Jibrill, the deputy commander of the Hamas military wing. Over the last 10 years Jibrill was been deeply involved in most of the terror attacks which have killed a large number of Israeli citizens. He was responsible for the kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Israel had good intelligence that Jibrill was planning more terror attacks in the immediate future. The Israeli air force and the navy have been targeting terror sites in Gaza all night and will continue to do so until Hamas's ability to attack Israeli citizens is removed. Meanwhile more than 100 rockets were fired at Israel by Thursday morning causing serious injury and damage. As I write this, news has just broken that 3 Israelis have been killed when a rocket hit their home. I am sure that by the time you read this, the injury and death toll, on both sides will be much worse.

The Israeli government decided (rightly so, in my opinion) to eliminate this enemy of the Jewish people. So far the US & Canada have supported Israel's action, but naturally the Arab world has condemned Israel. I am sure you will be hearing people around you discussing this latest escalation, and most probably blaming Israel, so here are the facts behind the situation.

1/ In 2005 Israel totally withdrew from the Gaza Strip (land that in included in the territory that God promised to Abraham) and there has been no Israeli military of civilian presence in the Gaza Strip since that time. Israel even left behind most of the hot-houses to enable the Arabs to grow the awesome fruit and vegetables that the Israelis had been growing there.

2/ Almost immediately terrorists started firing rockets from Gaza into southern Israel

3/ More than 800 rockets have been fired at Israeli towns and cities this year, including Sderot, Ashdod, Ashkelon & Beersheva

4/ Over the last week more than 1 million Israelis have been in and out of their bomb shelters, schools have been closed, and businesses have been closed as more than 160 rockets were fired into their towns and cities

As this latest barrage of rockets and mortars bombarded southern Israel, the majority of Israelis, nationwide, began to grow impatient with PM Netanyahu and the IDF because of the apparent lack of response. Obviously plans were being made and as more rockets came in, even in the midst of an Egyptian brokered ceasefire, this current operation to stop these constant rocket attacks was launched.

As the US and Canada have clearly stated, Israel is totally within her rights, to defend her citizens and to eliminate the aggressors. However many others may disagree, primarily because of the 45 year old myth of the existence of a so called Palestinian people and the lie that Israel is illegally occupying their land. Just in case you encounter people who believe these lies here are the real facts concerning who are the rightful occupiers of the disputed land.

1/ In Genesis 15:18, God promise the ALL of the Land, from the River of Euphrates River to Abraham and his descendants, through Isaac & Jacob.

2/ In Psalm 105:6-11 God again promises the Land to Abraham, Isaac & Jacob for 1000 generations

3/ In Jeremiah 30:3 God calls Abrahams descendants back to the Land He promised them and tells them to go in & possess it - there are dozens of more verses like this

4/ In 1917 British parliamentarian Lord Balfour drew up the Partition of Palestine, apportioning ALL of the land west of the Jordan River - including all of Gaza and the West Bank, to the Jewish people

5/ In 1923 the San Remo Convention, 51 member states of the League of Nations, predecessor of the United Nations ratified or confirmed the British plan for the partition of Palestine.

6/ According to International Law, all of the land that Israel gained in the 1967 Six Day War, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, is deemed to be legitimate spoil of war.

Therefore one every count, the Word of God, the British Partition, the San Remo Convention, and International Law , the Jewish people have every right to occupy the land and to defend themselves when attacked.

Please pray for this current situation, that God will supernaturally protect His people and for boldness and wisdom for the Israeli government and military as they are forced to deal with those who choose to make themselves the enemy of God and His people. And please be bold and stand up for Israel if you hear others being critical
