INDEBTED IN HIM by Sigi Oblander
To be teachable is not just to speak in tongues, prophecy, or move in the gifts. We have all the gifts, but we are not teachable. We want to be teachers, but we never have been taught, and that is what the system is all about, having knowledge without ever being taught. We cannot become a teacher if we have not been taught. We need the anointing that brings a new value system in our lives. If we do not have the new value system in our lives, we will see signs and miracles for the benefit of our flesh, but we are unable to move in the unction of the power for what God has.
God’s ultimate goal is not just to let the blind see and the cripples walk, but there is a realm that He wants us to move into that we experience the glory and the power of the resurrection of Christ, a substance The Church has not tasted of. God is going to produce a substance within our lives so that we will have new desires and new longings that will go far beyond our fleshly limitations through the eternal seed of the Father.
If we are in debt we have nothing. We have had friends who had everything, but today they have nothing because their debts ate everything. Many are in debt, not just financial debt, but in debt to each other. If we are not indebted to Christ, it is not Christ who will rule us, but the one we are indebted to.
Some people use the anointing to manipulate people. I believe in many churches the praise and worship touches the emotion but not the Spirit. There is a release of the emotions instead of the Lord moving into the Spirit realm to feed the inner man. People’s appetites are such that they are not blessed because they are touched in their spirit. They are just happy that their emotions have been touched because they have been so deprived in their emotional life. When we come into a church, and no one in our life has told us that we are loved or complimented us in some way, we are content when our emotional needs are met. We do not see the need to press into the Spirit because we are so happy that Jesus loves us, and we settle in that emotional realm. But change cannot come through the emotion because emotions come and go. The change has to happen in the Spirit so that I might move in the liberty and the power of the Spirit.
2 Kings 4:1 says, “A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, ‘Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be slaves.”
This is the state of The Church: we are slaves to our emotions; our drives and to the system of this world, even so we serve God. We need the anointing not to exchange, but because we are indebted to Him for life. He anoints us to set us free from the world system, the system that has control over our lives, so that we can come into the year of jubilee. God is setting the nations free because He wants to do something in The Church worldwide.
Maybe you have nothing today, but you have the oil of the Holy Spirit, and it might seem that the Holy Spirit is just a little oil, but to get more, you cannot exchange it. In order for us to receive the first anointing and to be taught, we need a new value system because God needs to teach us to be husbands, wives, mothers, friends, prophets, preachers, and teachers.
David learned all about anointing and that the anointing broke the yoke as he stood in front of Goliath. The Lord had taught him how to depend on Him. We have prophesied, but we have not been teachable. We have preached, but we have not been teachable. The anointing gave David the ability to experience the divine hand of the Lord to bring together a nation that was divided and wounded. He did it with a little oil. God’s foundation is on giving. Increase does not come through exchange.
Increase comes from pouring out. (see Shavuoth offering on page 2)
